2020 marks the 25th Anniversary of Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County. Join us as we reflect on our past, celebrate how far we have come and look toward our bright future.
THE History of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County
Join us for a special year full of history and making history.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County opened its doors and began serving youth in the Memorial Park area.
1995
After its first full year of operation, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County had 300 members, a full-time staff of 5, a board of 25 city leaders and an annual budget of $156,000.
1996
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County expanded it's reach and built the first phase of the flagship Memorial Park Club, which included a kitchen and a large double court gymnasium.
2006
Construction began on the second phase of the Memorial Park Club, which centered on building classrooms for increased programming to its members.
2008
The Boys & Girls Club completed construction on the 35,000 square foot Memorial Park Club, serving over 400 kids each day.
2010
The Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County partnered with its first school district, opening up the first school based site in South Oklahoma City at Santa Fe South Elementary.
2013
The Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County expanded its reach into Oklahoma City Public Schools through a partnership with Cesar Chavez Elementary School.
2014
The Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County expanded into a partnership with the city of Midwest City to open up a school-based site at Telstar Elementary School.
2015
Thanks to all of the Great Futures Campaign donors, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County added on a 6,200 square foot Teen Center addition at the Memorial Park Club, serving over 100 new Oklahoma County teens.
2019
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County enters into a new partnership with Mid-Del Public Schools, opening up a school-based site at Steed Elementary. Additionally, BGCOKC enters into a partnership with the City of Oklahoma city, opening up two new Clubs in the Capitol Hill neighborhood – one at Adelaide Lee elementary and another at Capitol Hill Middle School.
2019
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County turns 25! Since 1995, we've expanded from one Club site to six and now serve over 4,000 students in Oklahoma County.
2020
Sustaining another 25 years
As we enter into our 25th year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County continues to be the premier provider of out-of-school time services. With your support, we can continue our mission of enabling and inspiring all young people, but especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
