Julius and his mom were abandoned by his father when Julius was two. He has not been a part of their lives since that time. At times, Mrs. Iboni has had to work more than one job to make ends meet. However, they formed a strong bond and were always there for each other. When Julius was a small child, his Mom remembered her own positive experience as a Boys and Girls Club member in her youth and she was determined to find a club for Julius. It was so important that Julius be involved in the club that whenever the family moved out of the neighborhood, Julius would ride the city bus to get to the club.

Julius started helping around the club in fourth grade. He began by uncovering game tables, checking out equipment and setting up board games. He would also help with serving food in the KIDS Café program and graduated to mentoring younger members in the Power Hour, homework assistance program. Julius has been involved in virtually all of the club programs but has listed our Character and Leadership programs such as Torch Club, Keystone Club, Street Smart and Passport to Manhood as his favorites.

Julius has served his community through several volunteer opportunities with World Neighbors, Infant Crisis Services, Special Care, several elementary schools, The Free Food Pantry operated by his grandmother, and R.O.K., , a local program for disabled children.

Julius carries a cumulative GPA of 3.678 at Putnam City High school and has been active in football, basketball and track. He is also involved in the DECA, Spanish Club and Spirit Week programs. He will attend college at Oklahoma State University in the fall and someday wants to own a business or businesses.

Julius says he is “proud to be a member of the Memorial Park Boys and Girls Club. I truly believe it is The Positive Place for Kids. It sure is for me. Because of the Club, I have had the opportunity to meet lifelong friends, famous personalities and caring adult mentors who have been an integral and important part of my life. I will forever be grateful. ”
